No sand-quarry permits in Thanjavur delta

The Madurai High Court has barred sand mining in specified delta villages in Thanjavur district. A petition alleged illegal mining in Thiruvaiyaru and Boothalur taluks. Officials cannot consider new quarry applications, and the Thanjavur Collector must not grant quarry permission for any reason.
