Remove caste names from streets: High Court directs
Justice N. Ramesh directed Tamil Nadu to enforce existing government and court orders on caste street names.
During a case before Justice N. Ramesh, an FIR mentioned a street whose name contained a caste identifier. The judge noted that the government had ordered the removal of caste names from streets and roads in 1998. The High Court directed Tamil Nadu to ensure enforcement of the existing government and court orders, and told the registry to initiate a suo motu case and place it before the Chief Justice.
