A new thermal power project worth ₹20,800 crore has been announced for Thoothukudi, with two 800 MW units for a combined capacity of 1,600 MW. The project is planned under the PPP model. A separate ₹33,066 crore plan has also been announced to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s power transmission network.
